The efficacy and safety of ragi flour as a dietary intervention for diabetic and non-communicable diseases: a review of the literature

Background: Non-communicable diseases are a growing worldwide health concern, and dietary interventions offer a promising strategy for prevention and management. Ragi flour, a nutrient-rich grain, has been suggested as a potential dietary intervention for NCDs. This review was designed to find the efficacy and safety of ragi flour as a dietary intervention for NCDs.
Methods: Database A systematic search of the literature across Web of Science, Scopus and PubMed was performed. Publications that reported the impact of ragi flour on NCDs were selected and information extracted and synthesized.
Results: This review comprised articles that showed the potential value of ragi flour in preventing NCDs. Ragi flour was found to have beneficial effects on cardiovascular risk factors, glycemic control, and antioxidant status. Additionally, ragi flour showed anti-inflammatory and anti-cancer properties.
Conclusion: According to this review, ragi flour is an effective dietary intervention for the treatment and prevention of NCDs. Its nutrient-dense profile and potential health advantages make it an excellent supplement to conventional therapy. Conduct a comprehensive literature search across multiple databases such as PubMed, Scopus, Web of Science using relevant keywords that is ragi flour, non-communicable diseases, dietary intervention.
